PROPER
KLHK

The Public Disclosure Programme for Environmental Compliance (PROPER) by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan, or KLHK) is a critical component aimed at improving environmental compliance and promoting sustainable development in Indonesia. The programme provides transparency and accountability by giving the public access to information about the environmental performance of businesses, governments, and other organizations operating in the country. By ensuring that these organizations are meeting their environmental obligations, PROPER helps contribute to a more sustainable future for Indonesia.

Trees From Above

The initiation of PROPER involves the selection of participating companies that have a significant impact on the environment, are listed on the stock market and produce products for export or widespread use. The participants are evaluated through data collection and on-site inspections, which are used to create a preliminary report. This report is then reviewed by a technical team, discussed with the environment ministry, and finalised by the Board of Consideration. The Minister then examines the report, makes decisions, and announces the company's performance ranking, which is publicly disclosed and communicated to the company and local government.
